Jeff Crossman is an Ohio trial and appellate lawyer with over 25 years of courtroom experience. Throughout his legal career, he has represented individuals, business, and public entities in complex civil and appellate matters, developing a reputation for careful legal analysis, clear writing and respect for the rule of law.

In addition. to his work as a practicing attorney, Jeff has extensive experience in public service. He was elected three times to Parma City Council and later served two terms as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served on the Criminal Justice and Civil Justice Committees and helped shape laws affecting courts and litigants across the state. That experience gives him a deep understanding of how laws are made, interpreted, and applied—and how judicial decisions impact real people.

Jeff is a graduate of the University of Mount Union, the University of Akron and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is running for the Ohio Court of Appeals to bring experience, fairness and independent judgement to the bench.

Proven Legal Experience

  • 25 years of legal practice in both the public and private sectors, handling complex matters for individuals, local governments, and businesses in state and federal courts across Ohio.

  • Deep understanding and experience with the skills necessary for appellate work, including analyzing evidence, applying legal precedent, and crafting persuasive written arguments--essential skills for the Court of Appeals.

  • As a lawyer, fought for the rights of Ohioans when businesses or state government overreached.

  • Brought suit against the State of Ohio to stop it from taking Ohioans’ unclaimed funds to build a private football stadium for the Cleveland Browns.

Dedicated Public Servant

  • State Representative, Ohio House of Representatives (2019–2022).

    • Led efforts to preserve health care for Ohioans, advance criminal justice reform, strengthen consumer protection, and increase government accountability.

    • Fought for working families and local communities across Northeast Ohio, including expanding rights for striking workers and other labor protections.

    • Led the effort to remove disgraced Speaker Larry Householder from the Ohio House in 2021 when others remained silent after the House Bill 6 indictments.

  • Parma City Councilman, elected to three terms.  Focused on fiscal responsibility, building neighborhoods, and accountability for the opioid epidemic.

  • Democratic nominee for Ohio Attorney General (2022), running at the Party’s urging and foregoing additional terms in the General Assembly to lead a people-first campaign centered on accountability, integrity, and the preservation of reproductive rights.

  • Recognized statewide for legal expertise, pragmatic public service, and as a Democrat dedicated to the party’s values.

Longtime Democratic Leader and Party Advocate

  • Active and loyal Democrat for more than two decades, helping other candidates at every level win elected office throughout the County, by knocking doors, raising funds, phone banking, and organizing voter turnout efforts (County Commissioner, State Representative, Council, Mayor, Ohio Supreme Court, and more).

  • As legal counsel to the County Democratic Party, provided pro bono legal counsel to the party and its candidates.

  • Served on election protection and fairness committees to ensure integrity in the democratic process.
